Content Management System Powered by Modern .NET MVC Technology
Why Choose Kentico as your Content Management System?
A fully integrated ASP.NET content management system (CMS) that allows you to create modern and intuitive mobile responsive websites. Creating and maintaining a website has never been so easy!
Small, Large, and Everything in Between
Most CMS platforms have a limit to how big your website can be. When that limit is exceeded, your website performance immediately takes a hit unless you scale back or make server configuration changes. With Kentico, the sky is the limit. Whether it’s a small 5 page marketing website or a larger 5,000 page government website, Kentico supports them all. Best of all, we’ve created our own website migration process that allows us to easily migrate any size existing website, and all the content (i.e. copy, images) into Kentico. The days of recreating every page from scratch are long gone!
Content Creation & Editing Made Easy
There’s nothing more frustrating then spending precious time and money on a CMS platform, yet, you still need a developer to make changes! Whether the CMS is too difficult to use or the features are so limited, this is a deal killer. That’s where Kentico excels – with its unique form-based technology, creating and editing content on your website is as simple as filling out a form. It handles the rest ensuring your content matches your website design and is always mobile responsive. Not to mention, you can easily preview and review all changes before they’re published live.
Flexibility with Custom Component Development
Has there been a time when you’ve wanted to do something custom or outside the norm of what your CMS offered, however, it wasn’t “technically” possible? Basically what you see is what you get. Insert Kentico, and this hurdle immediately disappears. The foundation of content in Kentico is built upon components. Think of these as each individual webpart that makes up a page (i.e. a text block, a hero image, a YouTube Playlist Video Player). Now, imagine having a repository at your disposal and whenever you want a new one, it can be created by our expert development team. It’s the best of both worlds!
Web Content Management Done Right
Components are the building blocks of pages and the sum of them define the content, layout, and functionality of a page. Sometimes called webparts, every page starts with at least one component. A content creator can add as many as they want to a page to achieve their goals. Arranging them on a page is as simple as dragging and dropping too. Some examples of components are text blocks; left image right text blocks; hero images; and Google Maps. Out-of-the-box, Kentico comes with a robust repository of components that can be used to construct pages. It’s also extremely flexible and scalable which allows it to support custom components. If needed, these can be created by a development team and then become available for your content creators to use from then on out. This means the possibilities are endless – you’re no longer limited by your CMS as it scales with your business, not the other way around.
Whether it’s signing up for your favorite website’s newsletter or completing a patient form at your doctors, we’ve all filled out a form at one time in our life. This is what makes Kentico’s form-based technology so incredibly easy to use. A content manager first adds the component(s) needed for the page they’re creating. Then, it’s really this simple, they fill out specific forms for each component and the page is built out based on the information entered and the components used. There’s no custom programming or anything else needed either as Kentico automatically styles what was entered to match the website design AND makes it mobile responsive! Creating and editing a website is no longer a burden nor does is require someone with an advanced HTML skillset. It just requires someone capable of filling out forms.
The general process for creating content involves choosing components and filling out their respective forms with the appropriate information – a page is then born. These forms often have an additional feature called a WYSIWYG Editor. What is this? We’ve all used programs such as Microsoft Word, Wordpad, or Google Docs. They too all have WYSIWYG Editors, or sometimes called editor toolbars, located at the top containing various formatting features such as bold, underline, indenting, hyperlinking, etc. Kentico follows suit and offers this feature on most of the form fields that make up their components. This allows content creators not only a familiar feature to customize their content, but the ability to apply more advanced techniques such as modifying the source code, inserting media, and implementing third party scripts from the likes of Constant Contact, YouTube, etc.
Media Libraries are repositories of images, documents, videos, etc. that are used on the website. Why are they advantageous? Because you can create a single destination to manage all your media assets which is very helpful, especially for PDFs. For example, you have a PDF being referenced on three pages throughout your website. The URL for this same PDF is being used externally on various sources so it needs to stay the same. A few days after distribution, it comes to your attention there’s a typo. Normally, this would involve remembering everywhere the PDF lives and updating it accordingly. With Media Libraries, it’s simply a matter of updating the file with the newest version and you’re done! Gone are the days of the tedious and error prone process of trying to remember every page it was on so it can be manually updated on each one. In addition, you have a single location for all your media making it convenient to share and view assets with your team, especially since all media libraries contain built in searching capabilities and folder structuring.
Just like your business, not all people should have the same permissions and access as one another. It may be that some users should be able to do everything while some should only be able to create/edit articles. Whatever the case may be, Kentico’s Content & User Workflows can support even the most complex business requirements. It’s unique workflow system allows you to create roles and permission sets as open ended as everyone can create/edit content to as granular as limiting a user to only be able to edit a single component on a page – now that’s precision. Furthermore, you’re able to control the process for which changes are made by implementing content check ins and approval processes. Even with this type of monitoring, there’s still the chance something gets changed when it shouldn’t have. Again, Kentico has this covered with version control which allows users to compare two versions of changes, seamlessly see what has/has not changed, and easily roll back to a previous version if they so desire.
Safe is Risky. Passion is Contagious.
